Abstract

Teaching aids are essential for the improvement of the quality of teaching, which would indeed bring about an educational revolution in the country. Teaching aids are effective in the classroom teaching and at the same time they enhance the learning experience of students by bringing concepts illustrations, models, specimens, etc. A teacher should always be resourceful and open for accepting new ideas and concepts. If new techniques are followed in the classroom, they take out the monotony and help the teacher to give more elaborate exercises, instruments and explanations that at the personal level are not always possible. These aids are very useful while teaching any subject in the same way they will be useful even for the teaching of English. Teaching is mainly concerned with the LSRW skills. This paper discusses on Effective Use of Audio-visual Teaching Aids to Teach Some Units of English Grammar at Secondary Level. This paper also discusses on meaning of Audio-visual aids, objectives and characteristics of Audio-visual aids, points to be considered while using teaching aids, types of teaching aids, and advantages of Audio-visual aids.
