Abstract

When a person uses drugs frequently, their brain gradually alters and becomes more susceptible to addiction. The transition from voluntary drug use to obsessive drug use reflected in changes in cognitive natural inhibitory and rewarding regions, prevent an individual to resist the need to use drugs despite the consequences that characterize addiction. Due to a diversity of potential factors, people are more vulnerable than others. One significant risk factor is having stressful early life events, such as abuse or other types of trauma. Teenagers experienced physical or sexual abuse more prone to drug use problems. Further significant factors include genetic predisposition, parental neglect and lack of monitoring, and friendships with fellow drug users. This paper studies Drug addiction among adolescent in Indian context.
