Abstract

Nayi Kahani awardee and promoter of the contemporary story movement, Kamleshwar is one of those storytellers of the post-independence era, who along with reinforcing the Premchand tradition, has given various dimensions to the Hindi story, has given it a new stage. In fact, Allahabad has an important place in the development of his literary journey. He writes – “My birthplace Mainpuri could not leave me. I could not leave Allahabad. In moments of despair, Allahabad can give me shelter."

नयी कहानी के पुरस्कर्ता और समकालीन कहानी आंदोलन के प्रवर्तक कमलेश्वर स्वातंत्र्योत्तर युग के उन कहानिकारों में से हैं जिन्होंने प्रेमचंद परंपरा को पुष्ट करने के साथ-साथ हिंदी कहानी को विविध आयाम दिये हैं, नए पड़ाव दिये हैं। वस्तुतः उनकी साहित्यिक यात्रा के विकास में इलाहाबाद का महत्त्वपूर्ण स्थान है। वे लिखते हैं-“मैनपुरी मेरा जन्मस्थान मुझसे छूटता नहीं था । इलाहाबाद मुझसे छोड़ा नहीं जाता था। निराशा के क्षणों में इलाहाबाद मुझे पनाह दे सकता है।”
