As the world's largest democracy, India is characterized by a complex electoral system, multiple political parties and a history of coalition governments. The research examines the electoral machinery, including voter registration, constituency delimitation, and campaign strategies. An important focus of this study is on coalition politics, which has become the hallmark of Indian governance. It details the formation, functioning and outcomes of the alliance at both the national and state levels. The study uses case studies to highlight the experiences of specific coalition governments, highlighting their successes and failures. Furthermore, the research assesses the impact of coalition politics on governance, policy-making and economic reforms.
