Vachanika: A Cultural and Social Perspective

Abstract

Achaldas Khinchi Ri Vachanika, composed by poet Shivdas Gadan, is a historical literary work. It reflects certain aspects of the contemporary society and culture of its time. Literature is considered the mirror of society, and hence, Vachanika offers a realistic portrayal of Rajput valor and way of life prevalent during that era. Every character depicted in the work is a warrior — be it a child, a youth, a woman, or a man. All are freedom-loving, honor-bound, and brave enough to embrace death with pride. The society portrayed in Vachanika is clearly inspired by heroic emotions and is willing to sacrifice itself for higher ideals. Valor is embedded in every member of the family. The women in this society are embodiments of strength, vitality, and inspiration. In sacrifice, austerity, brilliance, and duty, they are in no way inferior to men — rather, they surpass them.

Abstract in Hindi Language: कवि शिवदास गाडण द्वारा रचित अचलदास खींची री वचनिका एक ऐतिहासिक रचना है। उसमें तात्कालीन समाज एवं संस्कृति के कुछ बिन्दु परिलक्षित होते है। साहित्य समाज का दर्पण होता है। इसीलिए वचनिका में भी तात्कालीन राजपूती शौर्य एवं जीवन का यथार्थ चित्रण हुआ है। इसमें सभी वीर ही वीर है। क्या बालक, क्या युवा, क्या स्त्री, क्या पुरुष। सभी स्वतन्त्रता-प्रेमी आन के पक्के, सहर्ष मृत्यु का वरण करने वाले शूरवीर वीर योद्धा है। वीर भावों से अनुप्रेरित एवं उच्चादर्शों के लिए आत्मोसर्ग करने वाले समाज का रूप वचनिका में स्पष्टतः दृष्टिगत होता है। यहाँ परिवार के सभी सदस्यों में शौर्य का प्रसार है। यहाँ की नारी शक्ति, स्फूर्ति और प्रेरणा का साकार रूप है। वह त्याग, तप, तेज और कर्तव्य-पालन में पुरुष से कम नहीं है, बढ़कर ही है।
