India-US Political Relations during the Modi Regime: An Analytical Study

Abstract

India-US relations represent the relationship between two nations, one of which is a global superpower, while the other is emerging towards becoming a global superpower. In the global geopolitical scenario of the 21st century, a new era has begun between India and the United States, in which opportunities for economic, political, cultural, and strategic cooperation between the two countries have developed. In 2014, the leadership of India came into the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this period, bilateral relations witnessed remarkable growth, including India-US defense cooperation (LEMOA Agreement, COMCASA Agreement, BECA Agreement), economic partnership (bilateral trade, tariff disputes), Indo-Pacific strategy (Quad), technological cooperation, and their joint role in global politics. India and the United States have reached a new level of strategic partnership, although certain challenges, such as trade disputes and strategic autonomy, still persist. This research paper studies the political relations, policy adjustments, and long-term political aspects between India and the United States after 2014 in the context of future prospects.

Abstract in Hindi Language: भारत-अमेरिका के मध्य संबंध दो राष्ट्रों के संबंधों का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं, जिसमें एक वैश्विक महाशक्ति है, जबकि दूसरी वैश्विक महाशक्ति बनने की ओर उन्मुख है। 21वीं सदी के वैश्विक भू-राजनीतिक परिदृश्य में भारत और अमेरिका के मध्य नए युग की शुरुआत हुई है, जिसमें दोनों देशों के मध्य आर्थिक, राजनीतिक, सांस्कृतिक और सामरिक सहयोग के अवसर विकसित हुए हैं। वर्ष 2014 में भारत का नेतृत्व प्रधानमंत्री Narendra Modi के हाथों में आया। इस दौरान द्विपक्षीय संबंधों में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि हुई, जिसमें भारत-अमेरिका रक्षा सहयोग (LEMOA समझौता, COMCASA समझौता, BECA समझौता), आर्थिक साझेदारी (द्विपक्षीय व्यापार, टैरिफ विवाद), इंडो-पैसिफिक रणनीति (Quad), तकनीकी सहयोग और वैश्विक राजनीति में इनकी संयुक्त भूमिका उल्लेखनीय रही है। भारत और अमेरिका के संबंध रणनीतिक साझेदारी के नए स्तर पर पहुँचे हैं, हालांकि कुछ चुनौतियाँ, जैसे व्यापारिक मतभेद और रणनीतिक स्वायत्तता, अभी भी मौजूद हैं। इस शोधपत्र में वर्ष 2014 के बाद भारत और अमेरिका के बीच राजनीतिक संबंधों, नीतिगत समायोजनों और दीर्घकालीन राजनीतिक पहलुओं का भविष्य की संभावनाओं के संदर्भ में अध्ययन किया गया है।
