The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 is an important law for protecting consumers in India. The law was introduced when the way people buy goods and use services was changing quickly. Online shopping, digital payments, e-commerce platforms and new forms of advertising created new problems for consumers. The 2019 Act tries to deal with these problems and gives consumers better legal protection. This paper explains the main features of the Act in simple language. It discusses the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), consumer commissions, product liability, e-commerce, misleading advertisements and mediation. It also examines practical problems such as delay in cases, lack of resources, lack of awareness, overlapping powers of different authorities and the digital divide. The paper concludes that the Act has strengthened the legal framework for consumer protection, but its success depends upon proper implementation, public awareness and effective functioning of consumer institutions.
